HOW IT WORKS

Participants are nominated by their employer to attend and apply to the program.

The program runs from September to June each year, with an opening retreat, monthly learning days and a Community Project (with a local non-profit or charity). A final celebration dinner gives employers and sponsors an opportunity to see firsthand the results of this intensive program.

Once accepted into the program, participants will be benefit from a curriculum designed to make the most out of our monthly learning days. Some of what Leadership Durham participants can expect over the course of the program are…

EXPERT FACILITATORS

Each learning day is led by a facilitator who will cover a topic that our team has deemed essential to modern leadership. Theme’s such as diversity, personal branding, emotional intelligence, and change management are explored with the help of experts in these fields. Past facilitators have included Paul Cupcott, Dr. Leeno Karumanchery, and Dr. Hugh Drouin

DURHAM WIDE HOSTS

Our learning days each take place at different businesses and organizations around Durham Region, allowing our participants to be exposed to and make connections at local businesses and organizations. Our bus tour learning day takes it one step further, visiting multiple hosts across Durham Region. Past hosts have included Royal McLaughlin Gallery, Trent University Durham, and Region of Durham Headquarters.

GROUP COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Participants will work with local non-profit organizations to develop projects that move the organizations’ mandates forward. Participants split up into groups to work on these community projects and in doing so, have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow leaders from outside their workplace or even their field.

Are you a non-profit that has a project you’d like our participants to work on?

Check out some moments from this year’s learning days as our participants are presented with community project options, take part in team building exercises, and work together to develop their leadership styles.
